We have played 17 games in the 2008 season and only have 5 regular games and the RABA left in the season. Your top ten tournaments count toward your chip total for the championship tournament in July. If you are planning to play on the 19th, post a reply to this thread.
Games left that count toward the 2008 race to the Ragged Aces End of Year Awards are:
- 4/19 - Redmond Ridge
- 4/26 - Redmond Ridge (RABA - big buy in, more points)
- 5/3 - West Seattle (Rich's House)
- 5/17 - Redmond Ridge
- 6/7 - TBD
- 6/21 - Redmond Ridge
- 7/12 - Redmond Ridge (RA Championship Game)
Of the four EoY Awards, two are earned before the championship game (Player of the Year & Bounty Hunter of the Year), a third is narrowed to a final three that is voted on by participants in the championship game (Most Improved Player), and the last is earned by the winner of the championship game (Championship Trophy). The current leaders for the first three awards are:
- Player of the Year
- Nick Andal (198) jumped into the top 5 in game16 and has held first place for two months
- Clark Musser (184) has been in the top 5 pretty much the entire season and has been in second since game 16
- Christine Musser (178) has held on to the top 5 all season and moved up 2 places in the last game
- "Action" Abi Velin (176) slipped to fourth place in game 15 and has held the position since
- Joe Curtin (172) knocked from first place in game 14, he has slipped down each game since and is currently in 5th
- Bounty Hunter of the Year
- "Bad Beat" John de Carvalho (17 / 1175) you can't win three tournaments in a row (in which he played) and not get a lot of bounties. This is how John moved from off the radar into 1st place
- Nick Andal (15 / 1140) moved into the top five during the run to 1st place on the boards and accumulated a lot of bounties along the way
- Joe Curtin (12 / 1065) was in the bounty lead from the 4th game of the year but has lost ground to John and Nick in recent months
- Clark Musser (17 / 990) continues to accumulate bounties periodically, only needs a big night to jump into first place
- Darin "Monkey Boy" Velin (13 / 890) has been in the top 5 bounty hunters all season but hasn't had a single big bounty game as yet
- Most Improved Player
- Susan Goodwin (8.42) has only played five tournaments gotten to the top three a couple of times in only her second year playing
- Nick Andal (7.47) has played a lot more games this year over last which is begining to impact his MIP numbers, he continues to show a consistent ability to make final tables this year
- Peter Svensk (3.37) has increased the number of top three finishes, final tables, and shown improved general play this year
- Diep Shippen (3.26) made the top three for the first time and has made a number of final tables this year
- Joe Curtin (2.59) was consistently in the top two MIP position with a vast improvement over his showing with the Ragged Aces in his second year but the increase in games played over last year and some poor showings in the last few tournaments have dropped Joe's numbers drastically
If you take a look at the standings you'll see that there is plenty of time in the next 5 games for someone to jump into any of these races and walk away with a prize at the end of the year (only your top 10 games count in the standings).
If you plan to attend, let me know ASAP!
