    2008 Game 15 - Redmond Ridge

We have played 14 games in the 2008 season with the 15th game upon us in 4 days.  Including this game, there are only 10 tournaments that count toward your championship points for the championship tournament in July.  Games that count toward the 2008 race to the Ragged Aces End of Year Awards are:

    1. 2/16 - Redmond Ridge
    2. 3/1 - Issaquah (Terry's place)
    3. 3/15 - Redmond Ridge
    4. 4/5 - West Seattle (Rich's place)
    5. 4/19 - Redmond Ridge
    6. 4/26 - Redmond Ridge (RAWSOP Championship Game)
    7. 5/3 - TBD
    8. 5/17 - Redmond Ridge
    9. 6/7 - TBD
    10. 6/21 - Redmond Ridge
    11. 7/12 - Redmond Ridge (RA Championship Game)

Of the four EoY Awards, two are earned before the championship game (Player of the Year & Bounty Hunter of the Year), a third is narrowed to a final three that is voted on by participants in the championship game (Most Improved Player), and the last is earned by the winner of the championship game (Championship Trophy).  The current leaders for the first three awards are:

    • Player of the Year
      1. Joe Curtin (148) has been in the lead for a number of games but has seen his lead shrink to only 2 points going into game 15
      2. "Action" Abi Velin (146) has been on the move up the leader board the last few game and is right on Joe's heels
      3. Christine Musser (146) has also been trending upward though she lost her second place seat by mere percentage points in the last game
      4. Darin "Monkey Boy" Velin (144) has been in the top 5 pretty much the entire season and only recently has dropped down to fourth place but is only 4 points out of first
      5. Clark Musser (142) has been in the top 5 pretty much the entire season and has been gaining ground each game
    • Bounty Hunter of the Year
      1. Joe Curtin (12 / 1065) has been in the bounty lead since his big 750 bounty point night in the 4th game of the year
      2. Peter "Black Hole" Svensk (8 / 850) had a big 750 bounty point night in the 4th game as well but hasn't improved his standing much since
      3. "Bad Beat" John de Carvalho (13 / 835) has had two back to back 300+ bounty point nights and has moved into contention
      4. Darin "Monkey Boy" Velin (12 / 805) has been in the top 5 bounty hunters all season but hasn't had a single big game as yet
      5. Clark Musser (14 / 740) has drifted in and out of contention and just scored a 200 point night in the last tournament
    • Most Improved Player
      1. Joe Curtin (10.06) has been in the top two all season with a vast improvement over his showing with the Ragged Aces in his second year
      2. Nick Andal (9.77) has flip flopped the top spot with Joe the entire season and has shown a consistant ability to make final tables this year
      3. Susan Goodwin (9.35) has only played tournaments at Rich's house (so far) and won a tournament for the first time in only her second year playing
      4. Peter Svensk (5.34) has increased the number of top three finishes, final tables, and shown improved general play this year
      5. Diep Shippen (3.46) made the top three for the first time and has made a number of final tables this year

If you take a look at the standings you'll see that there is plenty of time in the next 10 games for someone to jump into any of these races and walk away with a prize at the end of the year (only your top 10 games count in the standings).

7 players are confirmed playing on Saturday at Clark & Christines house in Redmond Ridge: Christine, Clark, Rich, Susan G., Diana, Greg, Shannon

If you plan to attend, let me know ASAP!

Oh, and the house should be close to being finished.  We have painted the walls, installed the lights, and carpet goes in on Friday!

    Re: 2008 Game 15 - Redmond Ridge

We are only one day away from the start of Game 15 on Saturday in “the Hanger”.  Carpet will be installed today and most of the painting is done.  Unless they show up today, the low volt guys haven’t installed the sound or video system yet but we’ll manage J

So far we’ve got 19 players that have confirmed they are playing (if things have changed please let me know ASAP): Joe, “Action” Abi, Christine, Darin “Monkey Boy”, Clark, Peter “the Black Hole”, “Bad Beat” John, Rich “the Revealer”, Sue S., Allan R., Jordan, Susan G., Diana, Greg, Shannon, Terry, Andre, Adam P. (new player), and Tom O. (new player).

Molly will be there too, but mainly to watch as she’ll have Nate with her.

Three are on the maybe list (giving a possibility of 22 players): Mike B., “Jesus” Kjell, and Nicci B. (new player – Mike’s wife).

We have at least three more chairs available to fill three tables (if all the maybes come too) so let me know if you plan to play ASAP.  People I haven’t heard from that I think are most likely to play: Nick, “Steamroller” Garth, Diep “the Black Widow”, Aaron N., James, Casey and Donna

This is going to be a great tournament and I expect we’ll be able to get a RAWSOP game in as well (bring an extra $20 or two), see you all on Saturday!
