End of Year Awards for Ragged Aces

We have 4 awards that can be won each year and you can win them in the following way:
  1. Ragged Aces Championship Trophy (RACT)!
Only one way to win this one, earn a seat to the championship tournament on the first saturday in July.  How do you do this?  By playing in games during the season you earn points toward chips in the championship.  The more points you earn, the more chips.  Nobody plays with less than half the starting chips of the first place finisher.  If you are in the top 24 when the championship game is to be played, you are invited to attend.  Once you arrive, there is a $20 entry fee and then you may fight it out to win your portion of a prize pool that is already seeded with at least $240 (money held over from regular season games).  Alternates will be taken from 25th place on down if someone from the top 24 can't make the game.
The winner of this tournament is the Ragged Aces Champion and receives the big black RACT chip.
  2. Player of the Year Award (PoY)!
The PoY goes to the player that finishes the season at the top of the leader board.  The leader board is organized by accumulated points with the best Average used as a tie breaker.  How do you accumulate points?  Play in tournaments.  Only your best 10 games are counted so any games played over 10 allow you to bump lower point scoring games with higher games.  A cap on games that count closes the gap between players that play 10+ games and those that play 10-.  Your accumulated points and the average place bonus are also used to calculate your chip count for the championship game.  You can see where you stand on this race from the Standings Page.
  3. Bounty Hunter of the Year Award (BHoY)!Bounty Hunter Award
The BHoY will be earned by the player that scores the most bounty points during the season.  Bounty points are earned for each player knocked out of a tournament.  Players knocked out of bigger tournaments are worth more points.  The bounty hunter award is the only award where all of the games you play in (where you score a bounty) are counted (not a top ten cut off).  By playing more tournaments you raise your chances of being the bounty hunter of the year.  The bounty points are listed on the Standings Page and the race is usually tight right to the last game of the season.
  4. Most Improved Player Award (MIP)!
The MIP will be awarded to the player that has improved most over last season.  Determining the player with the most improvement is not an easy task, so we've resorted to mathematics to determine the top candidates and then all Ragged Aces Members that attend the championship will be able to vote for the nominee that they feel has improved most.
To determine the most improvement we're using a combination of five stats:
    1. Placement in the standings Year/Year (Last year minus this year) x3
      +
    2. Average tournament exit Year/Year (Last year minus this year) x4
      +
    3. Top 3 finish quality Year/Year (This year minus last year)
      +
    4. Points accumulated Year/Year (This year minus last year) divided by games played this year
      -
    5. Difference in games played Year/Year (This year minus last year) x10
    6. Divide the whole thing by 10
The actual calculation looks like this:

(((last year standing - this year standing) x 3)
+ ((last year Ave - this year Ave) x 4)
+ ((this year points - last year points) / this year games)
+ (((this year black chips x 6) + (this year green chips x 4) + (this year red chips x 2)) - ((last year black chips x 6) + (last year green chips x 4) + (last year red chips x 2)))
- ((this year games - last year games) x 10))
/ 10
